Job Purpose

To originate, structure, appraise, and manage industry-sector investments that deliver both sustainable financial returns and measurable development impact, contributing to economic transformation, industrialization, and private sector growth.

The role ensures catalytic deployment of capital aligned to strategic development priorities.

Strategic Accountability

  • Build and maintain a pipeline of viable, development-aligned investment opportunities.
  • Ensure portfolio quality, sustainability, and impact realization.
  • Strengthen industrial sector financing aligned to national development objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Deal Origination & Sector Development

  • Identify and originate high-potential industry investments with strong developmental additionality.
  • Conduct sector research to identify structural financing gaps and growth opportunities.
  • Build strategic relationships with industry stakeholders, associations, and ecosystem actors.

2. Investment Appraisal & Structuring

  • Conduct rigorous financial, commercial, and risk analysis of proposed investments.
  • Structure facilities aligned to both financial sustainability and developmental outcomes.
  • Ensure integration of development impact indicators at approval stage.

3. Portfolio Management & Risk Oversight

  • Monitor borrower performance and financial health.
  • Conduct regular site visits and performance assessments.
  • Apply credit risk grading and recommend corrective measures where necessary.
  • Prepare portfolio risk and performance reports for management review.

4. Development Impact Integration

  • Ensure funded projects contribute to job creation, value addition, industrial growth, and economic resilience.
  • Collaborate with M&E function to track agreed development impact metrics.
  • Identify lessons from portfolio performance to inform sector strategy refinement.

Authority

  • Engage and negotiate with clients within approved mandates.
  • Provide sector intelligence and portfolio insights to senior management.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field (required).
  • Professional certification (CFA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in project finance, corporate lending, or investment management.
  • At least 3 years in a middle management or senior analyst role.
  • Experience within a DFI, development bank, structured finance, or long-term project financing environment is preferred.
