IT Officer

Job Purpose: To monitor, maintain and provide support for all IT hardware and systems including business systems, office systems, computer networks, and telephone systems throughout the hotel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications.
  • Monitor and maintain computer & management systems and networks, Liaise with the IT Supervisor and vendors to ensure availability of internet connectivity all the time and up-to-date licenses for the software and patches.
  • Provide support to staff or clients / customers to help set up systems, computers and projectors for conferences and resolve issues on time.
  • Troubleshoot systems and network problems, diagnose and solve hardware or software faults, escalate any requirements for purchase of replacements and replace parts as required.
  • Participate in network configuration, Servers, Workstations, Networking equipment, email accounts, and provide support for the underlying server/desktop infrastructure.
  • Provide input into the planning and budgeting of IT equipment, Systems and Software and advise management on relevant technology advancements in the market / industry.
  • Implement and support the roll-out of new applications, set up new users’ accounts and profiles and deal with password issues as and when required.
  • Carry out periodical preventive maintenance for all IT hardware & Software, implement disaster recovery plans and ensure daily backup is done, Antivirus setup and day to day support provided to avert any phishing or system intrusion.
  • Work with the Reservations Officer to update the Hotel Website and boost Social Media Platforms and ensure Search Engine Optimization is done where necessary.
  • Participate in the preparation and update of IT Policies & Procedures for the user departments.
  • Respond courteously and efficiently to queries from guests and system users, identify and implement solutions to user queries or provide support as maybe required. 
  • Ensures cleanliness of all data equipment, computer rooms and security of the server room.
  • Ensure that IT Audit points are implemented as per relevant standard operating procedures and IT Security Policies.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications & Experience

  • Atleast four years relevant work experience in a busy organisation preferably within hospitality industry
  • Two years experience in a supervisory or management position,
  • Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems ore related field
  • IT professional certification is an added advantage e.g Cisco, PCIM, MCSA, MCSA, MCTS or MCITP for windows server, MCDST for workstations
