Job Title: Advocacy Officer

The role reports to the Advocacy Manager and the Officer is primarily responsible for translating policy platforms into effective advocacy actions for the Coalition and its partners. The Advocacy Officer is to inspire donors and policymakers to increase their commitment to the Coalition.

Location: Nairobi County, Kenya

Responsibilities

● Contribute to technical analysis, background research, and content development

● Assist with the continual monitoring and research of policies and practices the coalitions core programs, including multilateral, governmental, philanthropic, non-governmental, and industrial policies

● Conduct background research on assigned policy issues

● Support outreach with designated priority targets, in particular priority countries, NGOs, and civil society stakeholders

● Support efforts to build relationships with potential allies (civil society, government, NGOs, research actors, etc.) to advance the Coalition’s mission.

● Participate in internal and external advocacy meetings

● Support monitoring and reporting on advocacy progress against targets.

● Provide administrative support for meetings, conferences, trainings, documentary reviews among others.

Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in political science, development studies any other related field (Masters is an advantage)

● 2-4 years post qualification relevant work experience.

● Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and matrix structure

● Work experience in the public and private sector is highly desirable

● Demonstrated experience in undertaking desk-based research and data analysis

● Good knowledge of Microsoft Suite
