SALES & MARKETING MANAGER – Hospitality

Scope and Purpose of Job:

To lead, manage, plan, direct and coordinate the marketing team in the marketing of the Hotel products and services and to create an image of the Hotel under the General Manager’s supervision as would be required of the Chairman and the Managing Director, so that maximum growth occurs through gaining new clients and contracts.

Performance Criteria:

  • Improve the bed occupancy to enhance the profitability level
  • Increase in the number of conferences and conference participants beyond the current daily average of 500 pax thus increasing food and beverage sales.
  • An improved corporate image among our clients through interaction outside the hotel.
  • Coordinate day to day functions and activities with other Heads of Department.
  • Create visibility for the Hotel, yourself, and your department, by making appearances and introduce yourself to organizers of functions at the Hotel
  • Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establish marketing goals to ensure share of market and profitability of products and/or services.
  • Develop and execute marketing plans and programs, both short and long range, to ensure the profit growth and expansion of company products and/or services.
  • Research, analyze, and monitor financial, technological, and demographic factors so that market opportunities may be capitalized on and the effects of competitive activity may be minimized.
  • Plan and oversee the organization’s advertising and promotion activities including print, electronic, and direct mail outlets.
  • Communicate with outside advertising agencies on ongoing campaigns.
  • Work with writers and artists and oversee copywriting, design, layout, and production of promotional materials.
  • Develop and recommend pricing strategy for the organization which will result in the greatest share of the market over the long run.
  • Ensure effective control of marketing results and that corrective action takes place to be certain that the achievement of marketing objectives are within designated budgets.
  • Evaluate market reactions to advertising programs, merchandising policy, and product packaging and formulation to ensure the timely adjustment of marketing strategy and plans to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
  • Recommend changes in basic structure and organization of marketing group to ensure the effective fulfillment of objectives assigned to it and provide the flexibility to move swiftly in relation to marketing problems and opportunities.
  • Conduct marketing surveys on current and new product concepts.
  • Prepares marketing activity reports.
  • Conducts weekly Marketing meetings with the Marketing Team and Management to develop new ideas on how Marketing can be improved.
  • Entertain prospective clients, where possible combining this with visits to existing customers.
  • Maintain communication with the client once the contract is opened and show an ongoing interest in the operation.
  • Complete a daily/weekly log of all activities
  • Analyze statistics thereby identifying key sales areas, problems and success rate.
  • Research prospective client details, finding out as much as possible about the company to ensure a professional approach.
  • Monitor and be aware of competitor activity
  • Present a realistic proposal to a prospective client, having thoroughly researched cost factors, and ensure that the proposal is achievable.
  • Collect debts and makes follow-ups of the clients who have not been active for sometime
  • Keep records and history of clients for follow-up and marketing strategies
  • Survey and study the competition in the market and reports on weekly basis on performance and projection as is relevant
  • Give a monthly report on market performance and projections and any possible problems or causes of short falls so as to harness efficiency in the market
  • Participate in preparation of the hotel’s strategic plans, marketing plans and goals performances to be achieved within a given time

In the Marketing Office

  • Receive clients and provide information on hotel facilities.
  • Enter function bookings on the Events form and Events Diary, clearly specifying the venue, pax, nature of function and contact person, and in a timely manner to prevent double and over booking.
  • Prepare and circulate to clients or departments various marketing documents like quotations, weekly forecasts, and monthly forecasts, function memos, depicting the business of the week or month.
  • Liaise with the conference room attendants, service staff and House Keeping for appropriate preparation of the different event venues as specified by the client.
  • Attend and make relevant contributions in the various management and departmental meetings organised in-house.
  • Perform related duties and special projects as assigned by management/higher authorities

Key Skills Required:

  • Sales Leadership: Expertise in corporate, leisure, and MICE sales, with strong client relationship management and account development skills.
  • Revenue Growth: Ability to craft and execute strategic sales plans to optimize occupancy, RevPAR, and overall profitability.
  • Digital Marketing Savvy: Skilled in SEO/SEM, social media, email marketing, and content creation to drive direct bookings and brand engagement.
  • Brand & Campaign Management: Creative approach to promotions and marketing campaigns while maintaining brand integrity across all channels.
  • Analytical Mindset: Proficient in using data and KPIs to measure performance, identify opportunities, and refine strategies.
  • Tech Proficiency: Comfortable working with CRM tools, sales platforms, and hospitality systems such as Delphi, Opera, and HubSpot.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Strong team leadership and ability to collaborate with operations, revenue management, and F&B for cohesive execution.
